Most of my life my favorite color has been green.
It has been more than a favorite color really. It has been more of a signature. My walls have been green. My couch has been green. (At the same time the walls were even.....it was hard to find a place to sit down in THAT living room.) My clothes and accessories are definitely green. My son bought me new i-pod headphones for my birthday - even a fifteen year old boy knew to buy me green!
According to the internet green is ...The color of harmony and balance, Green symbolizes hope, renewal and peace, and is usually liked by the gentle and sincere. Greens are generally frank, community-minded people, fairly sociable but preferring peace at any price. Green people can be too self-effacing, modest and patient, so they may get exploited by others. They are usually refined, civilized and reputable.
I think my favorite color may be shifting.
I am digging this color now. Maybe I am late to the party and orange was already popular.
I don't know. I like it though.
My best friend P$ insists this is coral, not orange. Therefore I must continue to stubbornly refer to it as orange.
Here is what I found out about orange.
This color of luxury and pleasure appeals to the flamboyant and fun-loving person who likes a lively social round. Orange people may be inclined to dramatize a bit, and people notice them, but they are generally good-natured and popular. They can be a little fickle and vacillating, but on the whole they try hard to be agreeable. Orange is the color of youth, strength, fearlessness, curiosity and restlessness.
Does this mean I am becoming less peaceful, refined and reputable?? And more restless and fickle?
What is your favorite color? Are you passionate about it....or do you just like it?
Do you think what your favorite color says about you is true, or just general enough to apply to everyone?
Last question.......do you think it makes sense that your favorite color would change as you get older and more mature. (Oh...that mature part was hard to type.)

Accessory
I like to accessorize. Usually in the form of some slightly slutty boots, or some cheap jewelry from Harwin.
Lately though I have a new accessory. It is heavy and rarely matches my outfit. It is giving me a hernia and possibly scoliosis, but I can't seem to shake it.
No. It isn't that totally cool headband courtesy of Preeti.
The accessory is Shaye Baby. I don't know what has happened, but lately she is very clingy. VERY CLINGY. I am surprised because she hasn't always been like this. It is some strange 16 month affliction all the cool babies are getting these days?
My dad made a comment over the holidays. Something like..."It's no telling what all you could get done with two hands." Ha ha. (Not.)
Just so you know it is perfectly fine for her to leave me. It is not acceptable though for me to walk away from her.
I guess it could be worse. I guess I could still accessorizing with these two!
The Coach has at least learned to coordinate their outfits.
What is your baby up too?

New Do
WARNING TO MY BEST FRIEND, PREETI: Go read another blog. Click here. Noelle is a sweetheart and she has beautiful long hair.
I was off Friday and my birthday is coming up so The Coach decided to treat me with a hair do and a nails do before taking me out to dinner and a movie.
Super fun.
Here is s short history of my hair. (I know you have been sitting at home wondering, "What is the history of Heather's hair?")
This picture is about three months post Shaye Baby, but pre "hair leaping from head as if it were escaping the Titanic." If it would have stayed like this I would have been happy with it.
After I had Shaye Baby at least half of it fell out. Seriously when she was six months old I went to get a trim and the lady who has been doing my hair for a few years literally gasped. Up until that point I had a thick head of hair. It seems each baby takes a little more with it. It's only temporary though, so I figured I would stick it out. I had been growing my hair for three years and I thought if I just didn't look at it for long enough one day it would be beautiful . Ok. I would have settled for acceptable. (I was also willing to ignore the fact that when I exited the shower it looked like Chewbacca had bathed there.)
My hair started growing back in gray and kinky. So I had half as much and the new hair was gnarly. Lovely. I started coloring at home which probably didn't help the texture which reminded me of........hmmmmmmmmm. What did it remind me of? HAY! STRAW! BAD CARPET!
This was about four months later. The hair inspired the, "Bad hair? Show more chest" phase of my life.
I struggled through the summer mostly wearing pony tails.
When school started I agonized over what to do. I got a trim, but mostly left it.
It looked bad.
It felt bad.
It took too long to do. (Seriously if hair is going to take thirty minutes to do it should look awesome.)
That is pretty much three strikes.
Hair out. (Off.)
I would say my hair has been mostly short since kindergarten when my mom chopped me from waist length hair to a Hammel cut. (Spelling?)
My mom likes it short.
The Coach loves it short.
I like it short. I feel cutest with it like this. It is easy. Occasionally I worry that I appear old and
"butchy", but that is no worse than how I felt with the stringy straw hair. And a big honking pair of earrings usually fixes that feeling.
My best friend, Preeti, does NOT like it short. She hasn't since we were in the sixth grade.
We seem to agree to disagree on many things. She thinks I am trying to kill her when I attempt to talk her into doing a triathlon with me. I like to treat technology is if it were a passing fad.
My hair though seems to be a constant bone of contention!
I say, "Just cuz it long, don't mean it look good." - Poor grammar for added emphasis.
She says, "That haircut is ugly." She never actually said that. I imagine that is what she is thinking. (Cuz she has said plenty. Believe me!)
So here I am now.
(Odd that in none of these shots can my nose ring be seen.)
What about you? How do you like your hair? Does your best friend agree??
(Notice I did NOT ask what you thought about the new do. In case you were going to give Preeti some more ammunition.)

Attaboy!
So you all correctly deduced that it my bra I was trying to get out of the picture of Shaye Baby playing with the tub faucet.
And here is a picture of my husband's side of the closet. He doesn't have to lay out his clothes. It is pretty easy to figure out which red shirt goes with which khaki pants.

Twee Poppets
It isn't just any bra. It is one of those Victoria Secret Incredible Bras. They are awesome.
I was skeptical when the saleslady had me try it on, but it is far more comfortable than any other bra I have ever worn.
At 45.00 I definitely balked at the price. That IS Victoria's Secret - she gets people addicted to expensive purple bras.
(Maybe one day I will buy another one so I don't have to rotate in the bra that is so uncomfortable I whip it off through my sleeve in the parking lot after work. A trick I learned from my mother.)
Do do you wonder WHY it was there?
Yes..we will be moving on from my underwear now.
I am going to divulge this to you because I want to know if I am the only who does this.
Every Sunday night I go into my closet and lay out my clothes out for the week. Yup.
I lay out five outfits complete with shoes, undies, jewelry, belts, ect. I put them in order Monday, Tuesday, Wedne..........well, you know the days of the week.
If it needs to ironed I iron it. If something that goes with it needs washing I throw it in the washer.
I have to make certain decisions like whether or not I want to wear a dress two days in a row. Also I only wear my highest heels on Thursdays because we have meetings that day and less classes.
I just don't want to go through this every night and I would rather just do it on Sunday.
Many people might ask, "What if you don't FEEL like wearing that outfit when you get up that morning." I guess I would ditch it, but that really doesn't happen. I don't spend a boatload of money on my clothes, but I like all the clothes I own. I feel like I am finally at a point in my life where I know what I like and what I think looks good and most importantly where I am not too terribly concerned if someone else thinks otherwise.
So...........that's why it was there.
Do you do the same thing?
Or...what organization quirks do you have?
Do you make your kids lay out their breakfast items the night before. (Pop-tarts put on the counter or cereal poured into a bowl with a spoon next to it.) I do.
I want to feel more normal and also I want to steal your ideas, so get going!

Fasion Experiment #1 - Toussled Hair
My hair has no wave. It defies curl. Board like even. What I am trying to say here is that my hair is straight. Very, very straight. Except for the grey ones. Those ones are incredibly kinky. Hmm. Let's just not talk about that.
Before curls....and makeup....and blouse.
So, I have heard from several sources tousled, messy curls are going to be the new hair style soon. Ok, I only had two sources: my mom, and a ladies' magazine. I decided to experiment with the following method to give myself some sexy tousled curls.
First you take your curling iron and give yourself some spiral type curls. Then you take each curl and twirl it all the way up. Finally your form it into a circle on your head and use two bobby pins to secure the "roll". At this point you could spray a little hair spray. I didn't have any, so I skipped that step. Then you wait.

Curl.

Twirl.

Pin.
When you take down the "rolls" you just rake your fingers through them creating that tousled look.
Hmmmmm.
Outcome: I wouldn't say my hair was exactly toussled. It was fat. It was definitely different. I think this hairdo could have been improved with a smaller barrel curling iron, smaller twisted sections, and longer hair. As is always good fashion, if there is concern about something in the head area, just show more chest. So that is what I did.

Reactions: My husband studied the hairdo for quite some time and has declared the jury is still out. Because I decided (just now) that it is not much of an experiment if you don't leave the house with the fashion, I went tousled with The Coach to a friend's crawfish boil. Upon seeing me his coaching buddy exclaimed, "WHAT? Look at Heather's hair....like a ROCKSTAR!" I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. His wife said it looked good, but keep in mind she is extremely kind she would have totally lied to protect my feelings.
What do you think? And what do you think I should experiment with next?
One more thing. Tell me if you think it was poor parenting for me to practice on Saigie first.
