So many kids, I don't know what to do.

It's on!

It's that time of the year again.  Time to sign up for the 5k Turkey Trot at The Y.
And this year........it's personal.

Last year Ty and I ran it together.  He had been running with me sporadically in an effort to slim down.  I was just beginning to run again after having Shaye and taking it easy because breastfeeding and running are not a great combo for me.

Anyway...I told him we would take the run easy and just run together - no pressure.  This was fine until about 100 yards to the finish when Ty looked at me and said, "I have to be able to tell The Coach I beat you!  Sorry!"  And he took off.  By the time I realized what was going on and called him names it was too late to catch up.
He won.

Not happening this year.

Victory will be mine!

Surely youth can't always trump training.

He doesn't look all that menacing here, sitting in the recliner, watching t.v., eating.........his fingers?

I am not above taking him out for pancakes before the run!

Saigie has also decided she wants to run.  We are signing up for the one mile kids' run!  (I won't try to beat her.)

  2. Very funny! Good luck this year at the annual Turkey Trot! Last year I ran in a Turkey Trot that was sponsored by LifeTime and it was a freaking mad house. There were just way too many people! This year I am going to see if I can find a smaller race:)

  6. Racing against your children is an interesting debate. I believe in the "crush them/no mercy" school but unfortunately so does my daughter - I've never beaten her :(

  7. I really wish I loved to run. You know, the quiet, the solitude, the skinniness. What makes you love it? Or, do you hate it and just do it anyway?

  8. You have to beat Saigie! What are you teaching her if you let her win??? (I'm too competitive for my own good..my poor kids hate me after anything mildly competitive.)
And yes, you do have to kick some husband ass at that Turkey Trot...Turkey Trot...I'm sorry but it's difficult to take anything seriously with the words turkey and trot side by side.
    But you go girl!
