So many kids, I don't know what to do.

Cruisin'

We had a lot of fun on the cruise.  It is hard to narrow down exactly what I want to write about.  I mean really how many days do you even want to hear about the cruise?

First let me tell you about the driving in Jamaica and Mexico.  It made riding with Ty seem like a walk in the park.  It probably isn't entirely our #1 Jamaican driver's fault as I have never been in a country where they drive on the other side of the road.  There were funny signs up in the city that said things like, "Stay Alive.  Ride, Walk, and Drive Good."  I really wanted to take a picture, but I was too busy holding on for dear life as we were careening down the street.
Before we got off the boat in Cozumel I kept noticing all these posters on the boat discouraging people from doing motorcycle/scooter excursions.   I soon found out why.  The short taxi drive from the pier to our excursion was harrowing.  At many of the intersections there are no stop signs or lights. Apparently the driver with the biggest cojones has the right of way.  Unfortunately there is no way to tell whose are bigger.  Apparently we were using the Softball Taxi Cab Co.  Before I covered my eyes I counted three cyclists we nearly creamed.
Other than the driving though our excursions were super fun.  We did Dunn's River Falls, snorkeling, and The Amazing Race.  (We came in fourth due to my restroom stop and Mike's mis navigation.)

The next notable thing was the food.  It was all good, but not great.  There was a wide variety.  Mostly at breakfast we went to the breakfast buffet.  I like breakfast.  Mainly I like to start eating it within about thirty minutes of opening my eyes.  This was a problem as some people on the cruise mistook the breakfast buffet for some kind of art class.  I mean really how many different ways are there to arrange scrambled eggs on a plate?  Dinners were awesome.  We ate late so there were few kids in the dining room which was a nice change.  We drank wine and relaxed.  Other than the pounds I carried back I have also reawakened my favorite habit of eating something sweet after dinner.  I am going to have to nip that in the bud.  (As soon as I finish this after dessert bowl of Lucky Charms.)  The Grand Mariner souffle was awesome.  I really had to restrain myself not to ask for seconds, and thirds.

I also have to get out of the habit of dressing up for dinner.  The kids think I am weird.

Finally there was relaxing. The Coach and I strategically laid out so I could be in the sun and he could be in the shade.  We read books.

I read Water for Elephants which was awesome.  The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver was a little slow in places.  I also was officially one of the last people on the planet to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  I really liked it other than the sexual attacks.  I want to read the next book in the series, but I am afraid it may be too much for me.  (Has anyone read it?  Can you tell me if it is much more violent?)

Also there was napping.  We stayed up late every night so it was pretty much a given that we were going to have to have a nap.  It was great to spend so much uninterrupted time with The Coach.  Really that was probably the best part.  No matter where we had gone it was just nice to be able to talk to each other without the kids, or cell phone, or whatever else interfering.  I had kind of forgotten what The Coach's voice sounded like...and I really like his voice.  It was also nice to remember that he still does cute things like steer me around by the small of my back and get me tea when I run out at lunch.

And finally it was great to come home to the kids.  I was so excited to see them.  They looked like they had changed in only a week.  Shaye Baby still tells me, "Hi Mommy!"  about sixty times every day and waves her little hand at me.  Maybe she thinks I am leaving again.

Well it is glad to be back.  I can't wait to catch up with ya'll. What's been going on?

  1. Glad you had fun! I drove a scooter in Jamaica and we drove into a ditch. We were okay, but...fun times.

I have #2 and I actually liked it WAY better than #1. Let me know if you want to borrow it.

  2. Glad you had fun on the cruise. Love traveling when you can drink wine and relax and not worry about driving anywhere. Post your pictures and then turn your blog into a book (i.e. Blurb) at the end of the year. You won't even have to scrapbook...it will be done for you.

  3. Funny that after also snorkelling, Dunns River Falls, the party cruise and 4 am shots of Canadian Club whiskey to salute the sunrise...what I remember most about Jamaica - yep, the driving. And I had the REAL experience. We hired a Rasta guy for the day to tour us to the non-tourist places. He had a beer between his knees, and joint in his fingers...but freaked out when he passed a police vehicle because he wasn't wearing his seat belt!! Jamaica me crazy, ya man! LOL
Glad you and the coach had a great time.
    And yowser on the dress!
