So many kids, I don't know what to do.

Week One!

I thought this summer I would work on my blog and really write enjoyable stories about my family and capture pictures to fulfill the scrapbook part of this blog.

Ha!

Instead I have been reduced to doing what I am doing right now, hiding out silently in the study while dinner burns so no one will realize I am doing something for myself.  If they realize it all hell will break loose.  Someone will hurt themselves.  Someone else will spill something and inevitably someone will need the computer urgently.
So be very quiet while I quickly fill you in on our week.

Tayte rode a horse and got a trophy at his soccer party!!

We have eaten multiple Popsicles on the front porch.  Yes.  Popsicles must be eaten in the partially nude.  That's the rule.

I promise I really do put clothes on Shaye Baby in the summer.

Saige is lucky to have a little brother and sister so she can enjoy "baby" things under the guise of helping them!

We found this water park to walk to Wednesday night while Ty and Tanner are at church.  It took Tayte  a while to get get brave, but they finally did.  Tayte was so cute explaining this to Ty.  He told him, "Aren't you proud of me?  Say you are proud of me."

And finally we have been enjoying the first fruits of The Coach's vegetable garden.  He has planted zucchini, beans, tomatoes, peppers, onions and lettuce.  So far just the tomatoes have been ready.

So we accomplished some goals.  I took pictures.  (It looks like it may be the last week for that since someone - Shaye Baby - stole the SIM card from the computer and hid it somewhere.  I think her goals this summer is to drive me insane.)  We went to parks and we relaxed.  I read two books and I am in the middle of two.
I think we have reached our nutritional goals and our Forced Family Fun goals.

My totals for the week were.
Run: 19.55 miles
Bike: 59.57 miles
Swim: 4200 meters
weights: 1x

I did not meet the yoga goals with the football and volleyball workouts the kids had.  Maybe this week!!

Aren't you proud of me?  Say you are proud of me.
Just kidding of course.

I am fixna to pour a glass of wine now and try to catch up with some of y'all!!

Is it summer for you?  How is it going? OR How much longer do you have to wait?
What is your favorite local word?  Mine is "fixna".

  1. We have one of those water park splash pad things in our town but my kids are terrified of it. Which kind of sucks because I want to play in it and I think it would be weird if I didn't have my kids with me.

  3. You busy busy girl you! I say you did just fine for week one! We still have 2 more weeks of school before we can officially begin the slower pace of summer. I think it's great you set goals for yourself too. I might steal that idea for myself! Enjoy summer and can't wait to see more pics!

  4. I wish we had a splash park, my kids would love it. My girls' last day was Friday, so we're officially on summer break now.

  6. We are into the third week of summer break. I'm the kind of mom that made my 12 year old (he will be 13 in August) get a J O B! I decided that he can pay for the Clemson Camp he wants to attend (at the sum of $560.00 for one week!!!!) It sure makes it easier to get up and go to work when he isn't still lying in bed.

I never made Cam wear clothes when he was little...heck many of the pictures I took of him were totally nude...oops (yes I'm that mom too..the one that lets little babies run around outside in the summertime naked)

  7. I can relate to Tayte's conversation with Ty. I say things like that to my kids all the time. "Aren't you proud of me?" You must coach them. "Aren't you glad you have the best mom?" "Aren't you lucky to have such a selfless parent?" Those are important questions that must be burned into their souls. :)
My favorite local word? This isn't local, but it's from where I grew up. (Milwaukee, WI): "Kiddy-corner" (Diagnal), and "Bubbler" (Water Fountain)

  8. I think you've started summer off brilliantly!

I love how the oldest ones get to play because of the little ones. :)

You're in the middle of TWO books? What the heck? One at a time isn't good enough for ya? ;)

  9. I am impressed you can find a place to hide. I could never hide from my one and only. He always needed me the most when I went to the bathroom or to take a shower. You are a genius.
Have any of that wine left to share with a friend? :)

  10. Your summer looks perfect so far! Love the water shots. I'm trying hard to do something 'fun' everyday....so far so good depending on whose definition of fun we're using.

  11. I haven't done anything super fun this summer. Spent too much time at the pool, painted a bedroom, boring, boring.

  12. I am very proud of you! You did a lot of fun stuff with your kids, and even took pictures.

I really feel for you, hiding out in your office. Unfortunately I can totally relate. Do you know the song 'Mommy, mommy, mommy' by Sue Fabisch? She ends up hiding in the bathroom calling hér mommy for help.

  13. I'm finally figuring out how to use google reader, letting me catch up on posts I missed while on holiday! Good luck with your son learning to drive/getting his license. I remember being consumed with worry for years... but my son did have a few accidents his first year driving, totalling two cars! One due to an ice storm, the other a school bus hitting him going 45 MPH at a stop light. So, yes, I worry!

Love the photos in this post.

Good luck with your training schedule!

  14. Very impressive goals!

I too find myself hiding to try to write or catch up on blogs. Glad to know I'm not the only one! I keep thinking I'll eventually be able to function around them, but I think it's a long way off still....so I keep hiding with my computer.

Oh, and we ALWAYS eat popsicles partially nude. I actually do think that's a rule.

  15. I know I really need to start spending some time on myself...how do you find the time to run, bicycle, and swim? Any advise would be helpful.
