So many kids, I don't know what to do.

Towels Don't Walk, Judges Don't Judge

Today I have two completely unrelated thoughts.  I tried to find some way to mesh them together with no luck.  So try to keep up with the ADD girl today.  (Look!  A butterfly!  What was I saying?)

1. I thought this was a great organizational idea.  Each kid has an assigned color of towel.  When they are clean I set them on the stairs thinking the kids will pick em up and take them to the bathroom.

No.

Instead they will step over them repeatedly on the way to their rooms.

One would think the lack of towel when they get out of the shower would be motivating, but no. They really don't mind streaking to their room and once there trying to struggle into clothes while they are sopping wet.
Which leads me to another questions.
If that is the case.....how do the towels even GET dirty?
I am not sure I want to know.

2. I started this season really enjoying American Idol.  It was nice to have less sarcasm and hatefulness. BUT now I am tired of judges who are just really cheerleaders.  All of the contestants do not sing beautifully.  They are not all wonderful and they are not all going to have concert tours and albums. It would be nice to hear some constructive criticism, Dog.
Can you relate to either of these topics?
I'll vote for the contestant who will come put these towels away?

  1. too funny! We did the SAME thing with laundry when I was younger. Or anything that was on the stairs, really. Just stepped over it until we weren't too lazy to carry it up with us. Sometimes we had several steps covered with stuff... :) I am sure my mom wanted to strangle us!!

  2. I agree with you about the judges. I just fast forward through their commentary since they have nothing of value to add. I don't even know why they have judges any more.

  3. I am not watching this season, but I heard someone say that the judges are rating the contestants on a scale of A+ to A+++

  4. I honestly have to say it surprises me that people still watch A.I. I stopped watching after season 2!

  5. Ditto on Idol. It started as my favorite season! But now they're all just having group hugs after every song. That's not doing anyone any favors.

I still really like a few people this year, but the judges need to be more honest, more helpful, and less like a contestants proud mom.

  6. I love the towel idea and too funny. That is exactly what my kids would do! I too am an ADD girl and my thing is "Oh look a squirrel!" Nice to meet you on the UBP!

  7. Who is your favorite on American Idol? Jason and I disagree on who can sing and who can't. And I'm right there with you on the judges. I miss Simon because 'he kept it real Dawg.'

  9. No amount of color coordination or organization has ever helped my children or husband. I've tried. I've whined. I've begged and bargained and even downright bribed. So, if you find the solution, please for the love of all things good and holy tell me what it is!

    Word. Dawg.

  10. I feel the same about the judges. I've barely watched this season. I don't need to see Jennifer Lopez cry.

  11. I have not watched a second of Idol this season. I just lost interest halfway through the last one and never started this one.

We don't have stairs but I have a similar problem with my dining room table. I think that if I can wash it, dry it, and fold it, they should at least be able to put it away. Not happening though.

  12. No one in my house gets that signal to carry something upstairs either. I've given up!

  13. I laugh - but I was so guilty of that as a kid!

  14. Love it! New follower. My mom used to do that when we were kids... but she was sick of washing towels and having to pick up wet ones from the floor. So we each got ONE towel... because of this I now use a towel a couple of times before washing but my hubby uses a new one every time. Do they really get dirty?

  15. #1 - I can look at Jennifer Lopez all day. Steven Tyler too for that matter. I'm such a dork I love all the contestants. Sad right? Well, maybe not Stephano.

#2 - I did the same thing with clean clothes when my family was young! I had bins in the basement laundry area. I washed, dried, folded, and tucked the stuff into the bins. One daughter NEVER took hers upstairs. She came down every morning to dig through her crap. hehehe

  16. I leave stuff that needs to go upstairs on the stairs, thinking I'll take it up there. But sometimes I step over it. shame.
