TV or not TV - That's the Question

T.V.

I could do without it. Having said that I should clear up that with the invention of Tivo I watch it more than I ever did before. There was no point before. Baseball games, both The Coach's and the kids' interrupted any series in which it was necessary to see all the episodes chronologically to understand the gist. I could never hear shows heavy on dialogue like West Wing with all the chaos going on in our home. So I do watch it now.

But the majority of the time it is just a nuisance. The kids play it too loud. The Coach loads the Tivo with shows and then is not home, but if we turn the channel his shows won't "tape". We only agree on a handful of shows.

We like

Survivor

How I Met Your Mother

Top Chef

Lost

CSI Los Vegas

Entourage

I like

The Big Bang Theory

Dancing with the Stars

The rest of the time he is busy enjoying shows I can't stand, like....

The Deadliest Catch - Sorry Gucci Momma.

UFC

Two and a Half Men

24

Criminal Minds

But my all time favorite show to hate is Whale Wars. Uhg. Although I respect what the Whale Warriors (?) are trying to do I can't stand to watch the show.

Here is the basic premise. This group of conservationists is trying to stop illegal whaling. Their goal is to mess with the whaling ships enough to impede them from capturing and killing any more whales.

Basically here is the way it goes. The big, huge whalers go about their business with all kinds of technical advantages and a ship as big as Texas. The conservationists basically row by in the boat they blew up themselves and stick out their tongues and say, "Nah Nah Nanny Nah Nah." The whalers continue on their way and then the conservationists throw waters balloons and make "Your Momma" jokes.

If their nuisance making gets to be too much for the whalers they fire at their canoe with a water cannon or play super loud Taylor Swift music to drive the conservationists away.

The Coach is excited that a new season is starting up. When I rolled my eyes he assured me this year they have better weapons. I think maybe they scored a cap gun and a piece of mirror to shine the sun in their eyes.

Ooooohhhhhh.

I can hardly wait!!

  1. I am more attached to my Tivo than anyone should be to an inanimate object. :) I might just try to save it from a burning building....

  3. As far as I can tell, the only downside to my PVR is that I never know what movies are coming out because I never see previews anymore. A small price to pay.

  4. I knid of agree about Whale Wars. It looks a bit stupid. But they care so much they cry at the sight of the killed whales and the makes for such good television---heavy on the sarcasm---ugg I'll watch anything but that.
